The UTC’s focus on sustainable and related new technologies in engineering, sustainable construction, and environmental sustainability reflects the growing demand by businesses in the UK for well-qualified technical specialists.

Pupils at Daventry learn about new and developing technologies in engineering, construction and environmental sustainability; gaining valuable work experience to support their studies.

Teaching environmental sustainability at environmentally advanced facilities

A 5,432m² college provides students a range of full-time courses recognised for combining practical and academic studies with a heavy focus around environmental sustainability and engineering. The courses are sponsored by the University of Northampton and both local and national employers have been heavily involved in shaping the curriculum since opening late 2013.

The new college opened in Late 2013 and features a number of sustainable energy characteristics, including 105m² of photovoltaic panels, a sedum roof and a rainwater harvesting system.

Unfortunately, low student numbers lead to closure of Daventry UTC in 2017.
