iceSheffield, South Yorkshire
About this Project:
Located in Lower Don Valley, iceSheffield is a fabulous ice arena consisting of two Olympic-size ice rinks and 1,500 seats for the public.
Construction was completed in May 2003 to the cost of £15million and the arena is now home to the majority of hockey teams in the Sheffield area. Aside from hockey games, the venue also plays host to a number of different events including disco nights for the youth of Yorkshire.
The site is managed and controlled by Sheffield International Venues, working on behalf of the Sheffield City Trust.
A truly world class sports venue, the £15million iceSheffield arena features two Olympic-sized ice rinks and can accommodate 1500 spectators. In addition to hosting world class sporting events, the arena serves skaters of all abilities from the local community and further afield.
BEMS Description
This world class sports and entertainment venue has benefitted hugely from a HVAC (heating, ventilation and air conditioning) control system, which is accessible via the internet. This is thanks to the open framework architecture provided by Tridium for M&E services contractor, Linear Control Systems Ltd.

Lighting within the venue is controlled and monitored by a Cylon Building Management System. The HVAC controls architecture for the installation is provided by Tridium’s established NIAGARA Framework™ which successfully fulfils the client’s requirement for easily achievable, user-friendly, remote web access to the whole system.
Linear Controls continue to carry out maintenance to the iceSheffield site and had the pleasure to work alongside various other companies on the original project.
